Gwenevre Saint Bernards is a small hobby kennel, ran from our lovely Game farm in the most Northern part of South Africa, in the province of Limpopo. The farm is about 12 km’s from the Botswana border, and the mighty Limpopo river. The farm borders the Magalakwena river, and boast the Madiapala mountains. I’m breeding Saints Bernard’s for the last 16 years, and only to better each generation from the one before. Originally the kennel was in Pretoria, but after I got married I had to move to the farm. With that came the opportunity to expand, due to lots of space and now available time. Previously we couldn’t show often due to our distance from the closest showgrounds (we are about 640km’s from Johannesburg). This changed from 2013, with the kind assistance of ms. Sandra Flavell from the Von Tayborack kennels, who is graciously showing Gwenevre St. Bernards, and doing a great job. She has successfully campaigned our beloved ‘Coco’ until she became a champion. Our new dogs will thus also be campaigned to let our dog come to their full potential. We have imported 3 dogs from Norway since 2010.
All puppy’s comes with contracts, and certain guarantees. As far as possible dogs will be tested for hip and elbow scores and other genetic diseases. Puppies are raised in a tailor-made, well equipped whelping room, and after 3 weeks they move out to the kinder-garden, which is a more spacious puppy enclosure. This enclosure has a lawn for play, and in case of bad weather, a stone thatched roof building to find shelter in, but also to keep cool during the hot hours of the day. Once they reach 8 weeks they will be taken to Pretoria from where they can be picked up, or shipped around the country /globe. This arrangement is in place to make pups more accessable to new owners, and them not having to do the 6 hour drive to the farm for collections. .
